Thanks to the research team at the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University, an open access policy for the Carnegie CE data was developed in 2019. This entailed preparing and consolidating the data from multiple cycles into one Carnegie CE Dataset, and creating and piloting a process for providing access to interested researchers. There are currently 359 CE Classified campuses (linked here).

You can navigate the research tab on our menu to access the Carnegie CE Dataset instruments and codebooks by cycle year (2008, 2010, 2015), and learn more about how to access the data.

Codebooks & Instruments

Our research team prepared datasets multiple cycles of the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification and created codebooks to facilitate access to and analysis of the available variables.

Access for Researchers

The Carnegie Elective Classification Central Office is committed to making the Carnegie CE Dataset accessible to all qualified researchers in the spirit of full participation.
